New section in English for you, the English teacher

good english teacher in spanish country

Are you working as an English teacher in a Spanish-speaking country?

If you’re working as an English teacher in Spain or Latin America, we have some good news. Linguabanca is launching a new section just for you.  We’re going to be providing a whole range of resources to help you help your students and help yourself.

But wait, what exactly is Linguabanca?

Linguabanca was set up to help Spanish speakers learn English more quickly.  Our aim is to introduce students to the best digital, and non-digital, learning resources; from online courses, to video classes, mobile phone apps or just plain old paper textbooks.  We’ll also go that bit further and produce materials ourselves if we think that there’s a need which isn’t being fulfilled.

Until now, our content has been exclusively orientated to the students, but we know that there are a lot of you native English teachers out there who would benefit from having a comprehensive source of news, information and materials to help you better prepare courses and classes for Spanish-speaking students.

Here’s what we’re going to be doing in our new section in English:

Resource reviews

It’s a jungle out there.  Not a day seems to go by without the launch of some new online language course or app promising fluency in English in the time it takes to boil an egg. To these thousands of digital services, we have to add the huge number of paper offerings: text books, self-study guides, phrase books, etc etc.  Reviewing all of them is impossible for even the best-resourced school, let alone a single teacher. Which is where we come in.

We already publish reviews in Spanish, but from now on we’ll also be publishing our reviews in English, something we hope will be useful for English teachers around the world. Our team is small, but dedicated, and our reviewers can be pretty mean at times! So rest assured, we’re only going to recommend resources that are really going to be useful for your students.

Vocabulary sheets

Sourcing materials for a class can be a huge pain in the neck, particularly as textbooks for EFL / ESL are often a little old-fashioned.  Many teachers at one time or another will have had to produce their own materials or spent hours on the internet searching for the right resources. With our Vocab Sheets, we’re hoping to make your life a little bit easier. Covering a range of levels, the sheets are simple, clear and look good too!

Teacher listings in Barcelona and Madrid

If you are an English teacher and have at least a year’s proven experience, then you might be interested in appearing in our list of teachers.  At the moment we’re only covering Barcelona, but we’re hoping to roll out to Madrid and other Spanish cities soon. If we see that there’s demand for it, major cities in Latin America will follow.

Would you like us to cover anything in particular?

At Linguabanca we’re always open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas about the type of content you think would be useful to teachers and students of English, please feel free to contact us.
